SendAFrame Help & FAQs

Elias Artmetal®

The world class designs of genuine Elias Artmetal® picture frames are the culmination of generations of refinement in fine metal work begun by their family in Europe.

While art castings of this caliber have for too long been limited to the work of a few European foundries, all Elias designs are made in the United States by American master craftspeople.

Each picture frame is produced in their own shop where every phase of production is closely monitored. Individually cast, chased, and finished completely by hand, each picture frame is a piece of art. "Old World" methods completely avoid mass production machines and techniques.

Elias Artmetal® uses the purest metals to achieve what many consider to be the world's finest pewter. Although the exact formula is a family secret, it is known that one of the key ingredients is the addition of pure sterling silver. It permits the almost "hypnotic" look of the metal while permitting maximum detail of the intricate designs and themes.

Additionally, all golden pieces are electroplated with a heavy and permanent layer of pure 18kt gold.

The Elias unique hallmark on each piece signifying the model and date of design is a signature of authenticity and artisan pride.

Its no wonder that owners of Elias Artmetal® picture frames talk about the harmony and balance in a room. The result is the unique "Elias" look and style.

The Elias credo lives on in every piece perfect enough to leave their workshop: "if it's worth making, it should be made good forever."

Reed & Barton

Reed & Barton is one of America's oldest, privately-held silversmiths. Since 1824, their richly designed and expertly made picture frames, flatware, and fine collectibles have graced the homes of those who appreciate and admire works of beauty. Their unwavering commitment to high quality and old-world craftsmanship can be found in every piece that bears the Reed & Barton name.

In 1824, Isaac Babbitt created a new metal alloy while experimenting in his shop in Taunton, Massachusetts. He called his discovery "Britannia metal." From it, he and a few friends fashioned pewter ware of a higher quality than ever before possible. Babbitt hired a group of innovative craftsmen including 2 great talents Henry G. Reed and Charles E. Barton.

So important were these craftsmen that soon the company was manufacturing wares that carried the name Reed & Barton. Their goods reflected the uncompromising standards of excellence of the two founding fathers: At first in rich, heavy silverplate, and later, after the fabulous silver discoveries in the American West of the late 1800s, in .925 fine sterling silver.

Silver plated Frames and Albums
Ever since it pioneered the silver plating process, Reed & Barton has been a leader in producing fine quality silverplated picture frames. All pieces are invisibly coated with an anti-tarnish lacquer to insure a lifetime of carefree beauty.

All styles feature luxurious wood backs and easels, as well as easy photo access through new door-style backings.

Most designs are suitable for engraving and come in a variety of picture sizes. Each frame is attractively gift-boxed. A generous company warranty backs each piece.

Since 1824, the richly designed and expertly made silver picture frames of Reed & Barton have graced the homes of those who appreciate and admire fine beauty. Their unwavering commitment to high quality and old-world craftsmanship can be found in every piece that bears the Reed & Barton name.

Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded in 1870 by a group of American citizens--businessmen and financiers as well as leading artists and thinkers of the day--who wanted to create a museum to bring art and art education to the American people.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired its first object, a Roman sarcophagus, in 1870, before it even had a building to exhibit it in. The collections continued to grow for the rest of the nineteenth century. In 1873 the purchase of the Cesnola Collection excavated on the island of Cyprus established a firm foundation for the collection of antiquities. The Museum acquired two works by Edouard Manet in 1889; today the Museum has one of the world's great collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art.

It is the twentieth century that has seen the Museum became one of the world's great art centers. Some highlights: A work by Renoir entered the Museum as early as 1907. In 1910 the Met was the first public institution in the world to accept a work of art by Matisse. The Department of Greek and Roman Art now oversees thousands of objects, including one of the finest collections of ancient glass and silver in the world. The American Wing displays the most comprehensive collection of American painting, sculpture, and decorative arts in the world. The Egyptian art collection is the finest outside of Cairo and the Islamic art collection is exceptionally comprehensive.

Today, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is an encyclopedia of world art. Every culture from every part of the world--from Florence, Italy, to Papua, New Guinea--from the earliest times to the present and in every medium, is represented.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Photo Frame collection calls upon these tremendous archives and treasures to create pieces of sculpture to enhance your prints and adore as "living" gifts.

For your shopping convenience, SendAFrame carries the entire line of Metropolitan Museum of Art® frames.

The Museum of Modern Art Collection

The rich and varied collection of The Museum of Modern Art constitutes one of the most comprehensive and panoramic views into modern art in the world. From an initial gift of eight prints and one drawing, The Museum of Modern Art's collection has grown to include over 100,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, architectural models and drawings, and design objects. MoMA also owns some 19,000 films and four million film stills, and MoMA's Library and Archives, the premier research facilities of their kind in the world, hold over 160,000 books, artist books, and periodicals, extensive individual files on more than 70,000 artists, and archival materials related to modern and contemporary art.

Now more than ever consumers appreciate that everything we live with-from tape dispensers to dish racks-can, and should be, well designed. The Museum of Modern Art has played a significant role in creating this awareness, through the establishment of its celebrated design collection in 1934 and its ongoing series of design exhibitions. The MoMA Photo Collection shares this view, and we are pleased to offer all of their designs that that span nearly a century. Some of the earliest items are enjoying huge renewed interest-proof of the enduring quality of good design-and some of the latest, perhaps with the help of the Internet, are finding appreciative audiences around the world within months of their introduction. While technology has provided new materials and methods of production, the concept remains the same-thoughtfully designed products improve our everyday lives.

Kate Spade Photo Frame Collection

American accessories designer Kate Spade is both the epitome and antithesis of the all-American girl. There is something charmingly familiar, yet wonderfully original about Kate. She brings sophistication and wit to her designs and the gracious spirit of her company clearly reflects Kate's appreciation for propriety and her vibrant sense of humor.

While a senior accessories editor at Mademoiselle Magazine, Kate was always searching for the quintessential personal accessories. Not finding many to suit her own personal style, Kate struck out on her own. With then-boyfriend, now-husband, Andy Spade, Kate founded "kate spade handbags" in 1993. The company has continued to grow as Kate brings her wonderful sensibility to a unique array of items. Her affection for the photographs prompted her to launch kate spade photo and stationery in 1998. Nearly every year since has brought an exciting new addition to the world of kate spade.

Nambé Designs

Nambé. What's in a name?

Nambé possesses a certain mystique. Partly its their name and connection to the landscape, culture and history of their origins. Nambé (pronounced nom-BAY) was christened for a tiny village near Santa Fe in Northern New Mexico where the company was founded in 1951.

But there's more to it, this mystique, which makes Nambé the "lifestyle" brand valued by people who love simple, elegant designs and love to share them with others.

The most distinguishing characteristic of Nambé is that the company is devoted as passionately to form as it is to function.  Nambé products are created with two primary objectives: functionality and elegance. “Dedicated to Design” has been their guiding principle in the design and production of every Nambé original.

Nambé has established and constantly refines a “design vocabulary”, and within those parameters they offer their designers free rein. Frames range in style from organic to man-made; from ancient forms to modern elegance.

In every state of Nambé’s development they have searched out America’s finest product designers. Their visionary artists represent a wide range of influences and styles. Many of their artists are already recognized as major influences in the design world, while others are being closely watched as exciting new stars.

Early on, discerning buyers and customers of prestigious stores like Neiman-Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, Bloomingdale’s and Gump’s discovered Nambé. Museums added Nambé to their collections and exhibits. For its beauty, quality and heirloom value, Nambé became a favorite gift, especially for brides. The collection grew and became a world brand.

Care & Use

Nambé Metal

Hand-wash your Nambé metal with mild soap, a soft sponge and water. Dry immediately with a soft clean cloth. Not recommended for the dishwasher. Never leave Nambé in standing water.

Use care when placing heavier Nambé pieces on glass surfaces.

Nambé Polish with 0000 steel wool may be used on bowls, platters, plates and casseroles. Do not use the Polish or steel wool on any other Nambé items. Window cleaner and a soft cloth may be used for light cleaning. Silver or other metal polish is not recommended for Nambé items.

Should you care to have your Nambé metal re-polished, contact the Nambé customer service department for details at 1-800-443-0339.

Each Nambé piece goes through a series of shaping, grinding, buffing and polishing steps. Slight imperfections found on Nambé’s brilliant finish is characteristic of the sand-casting process, and since Nambé is handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly alike.

Nambé Crystal

Crystal is a fragile material and requires delicate handling.

Displaying in sunny windows for extended periods is not recommended. Hot water or sudden temperature changes may cause piece to break.

To wash, use very warm water - not hot - and any kind of detergent that is free of abrasives.

Hand dry immediately with a soft cotton cloth to prevent spotting.

Window-cleaning liquid or rubbing alcohol can be used to clean any of the crystal pieces.

If a chip is discovered, take your piece to a local crystal shop or crystal engraver for sanding.

Removing stains: Swirl a handful of uncooked rice in a solution of lemon juice or vinegar and warm water to remove residue inside a decanter or vase.

Tougher stains: Try warm water with a denture cleaning tablet, allowing it to soak.

Belleek Parian china

In 1849 John Caldwell Bloomfield inherited the Castlecaldwell estate, which encompassed the village of Belleek, from his father. Mindful of the plight of his tenants in the aftermath of the potato famine he sought to provide some form of worthwhile employment. An amateur mineralogist, he ordered a geological survey of his land. To his delight it revealed the necessary raw materials to make Pottery - feldspar, kaolin, flint, clay and shale.

The village of Belleek, whose name in Gaelic, Beal Leice, translates to "Flagstone Ford" was a natural choice to locate the business especially the part of the village known as Rose Isle. This small isle provided the best opportunity to leash the yet untamed power of the River Erne - power to drive a mill wheel strong enough to grind components into Slip, the term applied to liquid potters clay.

By as early as 1865 the company had established a growing market throughout Ireland and England and was exporting pieces to the United States, Canada and Australia. Prestigious orders were being received from Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales and the nobility.

Porcelain was featured by Belleek for the first time at the Dublin
Exposition of 1872. Their display was the largest in the Irish and English industrial areas. Among the pieces listed in the catalogue for the event are Parian china statues and busts, ice buckets, compotes and centerpieces.

Belleek's reputation has been built on product excellence. Back in 1857, the pottery's founder John Caldwell Bloomfield declared that any piece with even the slightest flaw should be destroyed. This golden rule is still employed.

Waterford Crystal

The History of Waterford® Crystal

Waterford Crystal designs and crafts an extensive line of crystal frames. The company has a strong and dedicated commitment to creating prestigious products - for gift giving and home decorating.

The beginnings of glass making in Ireland are lost in the mists of time but there is sufficient archaeological evidence to show that, from the early Iron Age, glass was regarded with respect. Indeed, medieval documents can prove glass making existed in Ireland back in the middle 13th century.

The company of Waterford was first established in 1783 on land adjacent to Merchants Quay in the heart of the Irish harbor town of Waterford. Its founders were two brothers, William and George Penrose, who were important developers and principal exporters in the city. Their vision was to "create the finest quality crystal for drinking vessels and objects of beauty for the home."

The brothers were important developers and the city's principal exporters. The development, they told the Irish Parliament, cost £10,000 - a great deal of money in the 18th century.

They employed 50 to 70 people, led by a fellow Quaker, John Hill, from Stourbridge in England, and succeeded in producing crystal with a purity of color unmatched in Ireland or England. Merchant ships sailed regularly from the port of Waterford with cargoes of crystal bound for Spain, the West Indies, New York, New England and Newfoundland.

But less than 100 years later the initial company failed due to lack of capital and excessive taxation. In what seems like a remarkably short time, Waterford Crystal acquired an unequalled reputation for creation of beautiful objects and designs, but its operations lay dormant.

Another century passed before the enterprise was revived. In 1947, while Europe was still in ruins after the second World War, a small glass factory was set up in Waterford just 1
½ miles from the site of the original glass factory.

Waterford® Crystal Today

Today, Waterford Crystal has very strong links with its illustrious predecessor. There is today the same dedication to the purity of color, to the same design inspiration and to the same pursuit of highest quality levels possible. The traditional cutting patterns made famous by the artisans of Waterford became the design basis for the growing product range of the new company.

Waterford Crystal, today, is the leading brand of premium crystal. Its products - superb handcrafted frames are designed and manufactured to the highest standards.

In 2004, Waterford celebrated the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Lismore pattern of crystal. Almost every year since its inception, Lismore has topped the popularity list and has been the biggest selling pattern of crystal in the US and the world.

Waterford Crystal® has become almost a synonym for the finest quality crystal sought after by collectors and connoisseurs around the world. Each piece of Waterford can be recognized by the signature on the base of the frame with the word "Waterford".

Orrefors® Crystal

The road to Orrefors winds through deep forests of spruce that open suddenly on darkly glistening lakes, and meadows and farmhouses set behind stonewalls. Here are the elements that gave rise to glassblowing, and which are reflected today in the finished glass; the ripples across the water, the sunbeams that penetrate the tall, dense stands of spruce, and the crystal-clear air. It is hardly surprising that the glass created here is beloved around the world.

The Swedish glass industry was born about 250 years ago, not far from Orrefors. In the summer of 1742 the first glassworks, warehouse, potash furnace and smithy were inaugurated in which is now the small village of Kosta.

Hand-blown glass has thus been produced in this part of Sweden for more than two and a half centuries. The story of Orrefors begins with Iron and the forest. As early as 1726, Lars Johan Silversparre received permission to build a furnace and a smithy at "the beautiful river that flows into Lake Orrenas". The iron works was given the name Orrefors, which means "the Orre waterfall".

Production at Orrefors became significant in the 1910's when Johan Ekman of Gothenburg, who realized the importance of design, acquired the glassworks. A number of proficient glass artisans were recruited. Ekman wanted to place production on a more artistic basis, and in 1916 he, therefore, engaged the services of Simon Gate, the portrait and landscape painter. The artist Edward Hald arrived in the following year. This laid the foundation for a vital tradition of Orrefors, in the form of close cooperation between skilled glassblowers and gifted designers.

Orrefors international breakthrough came at the Paris Exhibition of 1925.  From the Hotel de Ville, the Town Hall of Paris, the Swedish pavilion borrowed a magnificent glass goblet designed by Simon Gate that had been presented as a gift to the City of Paris from the City of Stockholm in 1922.  The goblet became a sensation, and the prestigious Grand Prix award was given to Orrefors and its designers. The glassblowers and engravers received gold medals. Many of the imposing glass objects from Orrefors were created for special occasions, or to special order.

Simon Gate and Edward Hald created the first modern art glass, and initiated an era that continues today. Orrefors participated in the New York World Fair in 1939 and launched the concept of Swedish Modern. The exhibition was a major success for modern Orrefors glass -- colorful, vigorous and exotic. In addition, many of their productions are now living classics, partly because the truly beautiful always survives, but also because techniques based on skill and experience never become outdated.

Throughout the 20th Century, Swedish art glass has been admired and treasured by a broad public, both in Sweden and internationally. Today, all of the Orrefors designers participate in producing art glass. The Orrefors designers are: Lars Hellsten, Jan Johansson, Helen Krantz, Erika Lagerbielke, Anne Nilsson, Lena Bergstrom, Martti Rytkonen and Per Sundberg.

Rosenthal® Crystal

German-born Philip Rosenthal established his first workshop in 1879 for the decoration of white porcelain in Selb, the heart of a German area known for the production of porcelain.

But it wasn't until the 1950's, through Philip Rosenthal Jr.'s  influence and leadership, that Rosenthal embarked on the track that propelled it toward international recognition in the world of contemporary design.

With his father's motto in "mind from the old, take the well-tested, from the new, take the best" - Philip Rosenthal Jr. turned to some of the finest artists in Europe to extend his art department.

Several hundred artists and designers from across the globe work began to collaborate for Rosenthal. The appeal of working with a totally new, versatile material like porcelain captured creative minds from all facets of art and design.

In 1961, the company introduced a new "lifestyle" concept called Studio Line. The line presented the use of new shapes and the involvement of  line artists to produce day-to-day products with style and flair.  The photo collection, represented in its entirety by SendAFrame, is part of this world-renown effort.

Today, these studio-line artists represented in the collection include: Danish artist Bjorn Wiinbad, Helsinki born Timo Sarpanewa, Italian designer Piero Fornasetti, Henry Moors, Salvador Dali, Roy Lichtenstein and Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus movement, to name a few.

Lisa Jenks®

When asked to define the Lisa Jenks Limited® collection of  jewelry and picture frames, the company's owners easily respond with three simple words: sleek, bold, modern. Ironically the very same words could be used to describe the company's dynamic owners, accessories designer, Lisa Jenks, and her business partner and sister, molly. Together they have turned Lisa Jenks Limited® into one of the most successful women-owned businesses around.

Over 17 years ago, Lisa branched out from a successful career in fashion to pursue her true passion-jewelry design. Her designs, which combine inspirations from ancient cultures with sleek, modern shapes, were an instant hit with retailers. She quickly gained a loyal following of customers partial to her sterling silver jewelry with the "modern primitive" style.

Three years after Lisa started her business, Molly, Lisa's sister, joined her.  Together they own and manage Lisa Jenks Limited.

Nestled in the heart of Manhattan, Lisa Jenks limited is a design studio, showroom and bustling production facility rolled into one. The company is true testimony to the success of a small design and manufacturing business trying to "make it" in the city.

Lisa Jenks Limited® boasts a strong functioning employee team united behind the product and designer. Their diverse team is a truly unique blend of personalities, backgrounds and ages. Lisa Jenks limited is a place where recent college graduates work alongside skilled jewelers and one can find employees from all over the world.

As working mothers, Lisa and Molly can relate to employees' issues of balancing careers and families, and have created a dream working environment for their own employees. They and their senior management team, coincidently all women, are very sensitive to the needs of working parents.

As sisters their business partnership is unique. The inherent trust that the down-to-earth duo has in each other allows them to communicate openly with one another, respect each other's individuality and do anything together to get the job done.

As the sole designer of the company, the endlessly creative and prolific Lisa designs several jewelry and home accessories collections each year. The signature Lisa Jenks "look" carries through every collection, lending to the collectible craze behind Lisa Jenks -- yet new ideas and materials are introduced to the collection every season.

Lisa Jenks Limited® picture frames are exclusively available in specialty boutiques such as Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, galleries, fine jewelers and on line through LisaJenks.com and SendAFrame.com.

Umbra®

In 1979 graphic designer Paul Rowan and industrial hardware manufacturer Les Mandelbaum joined forces to provide everyday products that generate excitement and alter the overall aesthetic of a home. Umbra's first product was a printed paper window shade. Its creation offered a decorative alternative to custom window treatments at a price still accessible to everyone. This design was the beginning of a twenty-five year tradition.

THE MULTI PICTURE FRAME, 1993 - designer: Paul Rowan
By 1990, Umbra saw the opportunity to introduce highly styled / high functioning picture frames. Umbra began by producing innovative, contemporary frames like the ingeniously designed MULTI frame: displaying a number of pictures at one time. This was a concept based on old-fashioned "family tree" photo mattes, and made Umbra® frames famous.

THE SONA® FLOOR SCREEN, 1995 - designer: Paul Rowan
It's a frame. It's a piece of furniture. It's the SONA floor screen. Standing just under six feet tall, the design of the SONA broke barriers by stepping out of the traditional frame category to become a larger presence in the home. The design is based on Umbra's SHOJI frame - a small, tabletop screen frame - and introduces the idea of using the floor screen as a canvas for an assortment of photos.

UMBRA® in the 21st Century
Mandelbaum and Rowan have continued to share the philosophy that surrounds every Umbra frame and album. Everyday objects of our lives should be more than ordinary and invisible. Each object becomes a source of pleasure, reinvented to combine function with modern technology, stylish design, fresh colors and wit at prices that are comfortable. Today their team consists of more than 450 people dedicated to delivering great designs to the fine stores like SendAFrame.

SendAFrame proudly offers the entire Umbra picture frame and photo album collection for your shopping convenience.

Royal Copenhagen

The classic color for porcelain decoration is blue.

Blue goes back further than ancient China, where porcelain originated. Today, blue is synonymous with Danish porcelain in many people’s minds.

An important color
The color blue is very important to Danish porcelain. Blue Fluted and Blue Mega were the first patterns produced by the Royal Copenhagen porcelain factory when it was founded in 1775. Both were painted in blue before being glazed and fired. Both are still in production today; painted by hand as they have been for over 200 years . . .

. . . And treasured throughout the world for their powerful and lively expressiveness.

The Blues of Porcelain
Royal Copenhagen, more than any other porcelain factory today, is known for the blue color of its porcelain. Also distinctive is the logo of the house: three wavy lines painted in cobalt blue under-the-glaze.  From 1775, the Danes realized that the main focus should be on porcelain painted under-the-glaze with cobalt blue. The three wavy lines symbolize something typically Danish: the three waterways which surround and divide Denmark - The Sound, the Great and Little Belts.

Two different painting styles
These two old patterns require very different painting styles, even though both patterns use flowers and both are painted with cobalt blue before glazing.

The Blue Fluted pattern is nature stylized. It has a fine, almost graphical precision, and the pattern is more drawn than painted with a sharpened brush using even pressure. The pattern looks enchantingly easy, but a full or half lace plate needs more than 1000 brush-strokes.

Blue Mega, on the other hand is nature full of life. The pattern blooms with its light/shadow effect and varied blue nuances. It demands a very special technique. The painter varies the pressure of the brush and with it the depth of color and nuance.  By turning the brush simultaneously she can alter the thickness of the stroke, creating light and shadow effects.

Royal Copenhagen: Purveyors of fine porcelain to Her Majesty The Queen of Denmark.
And to you.

MOLESKINE is a legendary notebook. Many are the sketches and notes, ideas and emotions that have been jotted down and harboured in this trustworthy pocket-size travel companion before being turned into famous pictures or the pages of beloved books.

For two centuries, Moleskine has been the legendary notebook of European artists and intellectuals - from Van Gogh to Henri Matisse to Pablo Picasso, Ferdinand Celine to Andre Breton and Ernest Hemingway.

This long-standing tradition was continued by writer-traveler Bruce Chatwin who used to buy his moleskines at an old Paris stationery shop in Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie where he would always stock up before embarking on one of his journeys.

Over the years he had developed a veritable ritual. Before using them he would in fact number the pages, writing on the inside his name and at least two addresses across the world, and a message promising a reward for anyone finding and returning the notebook in case of it being lost.

He even suggested this method to his friend Luis Sepúlveda, when he gave him a precious moleskine as a present for a journey they were planning to undertake together in Patagonia. And there was no doubt as to how precious it was, given that at the time even the last moleskine manufacturer, a small family-run firm of Tours, had discontinued production in 1986.

'Le vrai moleskine n'est plus' was the short and curt statement of the owner of the stationery shop where Chatwin had ordered one hundred before leaving for Australia. Despite having literally swept up all the Moleskines he could find, they were not enough.

Now, the Moleskine is back. This silent and discreet keeper of an extraordinary tradition, which has been missing for years, has set out again on its journey. A witness to contemporary nomadism, it can once again pass from one pocket to another to continue the adventure. The sequel still waits to be written and its blank pages are ready to tell the story.

This silent and discreet keeper of extraordinary tradition, which has been missing for years, has been reproduced by the Italian company Modo&Modo and available at fine stores world-wide like SendAFrame.com

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends®

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends® is almost 60 years old! He originated in England in 1945 when The Reverend W. Awdry wrote the first book in the Railway Series. Since then a generation of children have grown to love the cheeky engine and friends on the Island of Sodor.

The Reverend Wilbert Awdry, who passed away in 1997, was a retired Anglican clergyman. His father, Vere was also a clergyman and had the same passionate interest in railways. As a little boy in his father's vicarage in Box, Wiltshire, Wilbert would be in bed at night and listen to the trains of the Great Western Railway running along the main line from Paddington to Bristol within 200 yards of the house. He would imagine all the engines talking to one another and invented characters for them all.

He first made up stories about Thomas and his friends in 1943 to keep his son Christopher amused when he was ill with the measles. Mr. Edmund Ward, a businessman who wanted some diversion for his retirement eventually published the books, but they were so successful that Mr. Ward had to come out of retirement to cope with the demand.

When, after 26 books, The Rev. W. Awdry decided he could write no more, his son Christopher for whom the stories were first created, took up the series. Christopher began writing the books when his own son Richard was three - the same age as Christopher himself when his father started the Railway Series. It is through Christopher's efforts that there are now an additional 40 stories in an increasingly popular series.

Thomas the Tank Engine is one of the top children's favorite characters of all time. The timeless charm of the Awdrys' works have sold 25million units in the US and world wide book sales are approaching 80 million units.

SendAFrame is pleased to offer the Thomas the Tank Engine® picture frame series for your shopping convenience.

Roadrash® Extreme Sport

Featured in Decor Magazine®, Roadrash frames are an exciting new line designed to show-off extreme sports photos in an accessory that sets the tone.

Tammy Morts, the owner of Roadrash®, was inspired to create the picture frames by being surrounded her whole life by a family of stunt performers in the motion picture industry. When her very young son needed a cool frame to show off his killer jump on his dirt bike, that’s when it all began.

What is Roadrash® the word?  Roadrash is the "in" word for raw skin from a crash or wipe out.  Roadrash® frame styles depict Dirtbikes, Quads, Streetbikes, Snowboards, Personal Watercrafts, BMX’s, and various other extreme action sports.

These terrific frames for the sports enthusiast make great gifts for decoration in the home or office.

Crane & Co.

Crane & Co. is now in its seventh generation, with its roots extended to before the American Revolution. From these early times to the present, their reputation for quality, innovation and integrity is unmatched.

The company continues to be owned and managed by members of the Crane family, overseeing every final touch that goes into creating all of its diversified products. The Crane watermark has been the most significant mark of quality over the past two centuries, symbolizing the pride and personal touch of the papermaker and providing visible evidence of uncompromising quality.

Wood is fine for construction 2x4s, but Crane & Co. prefers to make their fine papers from durable cotton. By using recovered cotton clippings from garment factories, they also ease the burden on landfills with their philosophy "green unsurpassed quality".

Did you know Crane makes the most popular paper in the United States? They've been making paper for US currency since 1879.

In 1850, a banker coined a term when he contacted Crane asking for their "bond paper" to use for letterhead. The "original" Crane's Bond® retains its distinctive identity among business papers.

Today, paper is used in ways that founder Zenas Crane never dreamed of in 1801. From social stationery to digital album printing, Crane continues to develop technology-friendly cotton papers.

SendAFrame proudly offers the entire Crane & Co. photo line for your shopping ease and enjoyment.

A Few Selection Hints from Crane & Co. (excerpted from www.crane.com - all rights reserved)

Capturing the Picture Perfect Photo

Sharing family photographs is one of the great joys of the holidays. Here are five quick tips for taking that perfect shot to share with family and friends on a Crane’s 100% cotton holiday photomount card.

  • Outdoor photos are much easier and interesting than indoors. There are appealing elements to frame your photograph; attractive colors and textures. There are no windows, walls or mirrors to create reflections or shadows. Weather (like snow, or fall foliage) can be a fun part of your setting.
  • Indoors or out, light is the essence of photography. Choose a shady area or a day without direct sunlight. The light at dusk can provide stunning opportunities.
  • Choose a group close-up, or widen the view to include the view of the backdrop. Gather your family closely. If yours is a large group, gather them together in layers.
  • If your photo is just of the kids, set them up, then move your feet; change positions side to side or up and down to get an interesting angle. If it’s a complete family photo, use a tripod and take some test shots with the timer.
  • Take lots of photos. Take photos from different angles. Take photos with full flash, fill flash and no flash. Take at least one photo for every person in the group. Somebody is always blinking!
  • When you see that perfect image on your computer screen, it’s time to select the card upon which it will be displayed. Choose a frame with complimentary colors, and a design that reflects your style. Most photo cards hold a standard 4 x 6 photo, so have your photos printed and trimmed to the size called for on the card, and add your personalized message inside.

Then you’re just a stamp away from sharing holiday smiles.

Resource Revival
The idea for Resource Revival sprung from the imagination of founder Graham Bergh in 1991 when he got a flat tire while biking to his recycling job.  That tire's inner tube became a cradle for his home stereo speakers.  After three years of tinkering with other ideas, Resource Revival was born in 1994.

Now Graham and his team collects tons of discarded bicycle parts every year, especially bike chain, from bike shops all over the United States.  They clean these chains using mild detergents, sort them into more categories than you can possibly imagine, and craft them into the cool products like these unique frames.

Resource Revival is located on an old farmstead in rural Oregon.  This is their main design and production workshop: Resource Revival HQan existing outbuilding that they upgraded with insulation, energy efficient lighting, and reclaimed lumber and sheet metal. In addition to the wild flowers, there is a lot of wildlife, including deer, coyotes, wild turkeys and even an occasional bobcat!

The Resource Revival mission is to create innovative products from recycled materials, to provide meaningful, living wage jobs, and to have fun.  Graham envisions a sustainable future where commerce flourishes in a world powered by renewable energy, and where consumers are conscious of the origin of the food they eat, the energy they consume, and the products they buy.  Buying recycled products closes the loop and helps keep used parts out of landfills.  It also keeps products made from new materials from being made in the first place.

Thomas O'Brien

Thomas O'Brien is the founder and proprietor of Aero Studios, one of the country's most influential young design firms.

Based in New York City's downtown SoHo arts neighborhood, O'Brien divides his design practice between three areas: creating interiors for select clients - both residential and commercial; running his own store, Aero; and designing a wide range of products for the home, including a growing range of national product partnerships through the Thomas O'Brien(TM) label.

Since his arrival on the New York design stage, O'Brien has been widely recognized for his trademark style of "warm modernism," bringing vanguard mid-century forms and furnishings into a context of classic comfort. In both interiors and products, his firm promotes understated elegance with a pulse on tradition, deploying pairings of old and new, sophisticated and simple, to create a style that feels at once refined and familiar.

"I like practical and useful things, as well as fine and rare things," O'Brien says, explaining the juxtapositions that define his work: casual and elegant, classical and modern, masculine and feminine. Tailoring the balance between these elements yields a unique, yet distinctly authored design formula for each project he undertakes.

O'Brien creates signature interior goods that are available to both the trade and public. Program lines range from architectural elements (lighting and bathroom fixtures) to major furnishings (upholstery, case goods, mattresses, rugs, and fabric) to the everyday (bedding, bath textiles, and tabletop), covering all aspects of comfortable dwelling.

Thomas O'Brien was born in 1961 in upstate New York. He received his BFA from The Cooper Union in New York City in 1986. He lives in Manhattan and in Bellport, New York.

Anna Griffin® Frame Collection

Growing up in a family of artists on both sides, Anna Griffin's inclination toward graphic design is no surprise. Her talent, combined with her love of antiques, textiles and prints, has inspired her company's success and remarkable growth.

After graduating with a degree in Environmental Design from North Carolina State University's School of Design in 1988, Griffin gained experience working with The John Harland Company and Vera Wang. Griffin launched her own business in 1994 by creating one-of-a-kind look handmade wedding and event invitations.

The company's new line of home/office accessory gift frames shows this dedication to tasteful and easy to use design.

"My collections are a reflection of my passion for antiques and fine textiles," reveals Griffin. "The antique botanicals can be found on the walls of my home, while the collection of French fabrics are images reinterpreted from antique markets and my grandmother's curtains! What inspires me regarding design are luxurious and intricate patterns and florals."

GRAPHIC IMAGE

From the Graphic Image President & CEO Tom Glazer:

"Our customers are passionate about our products.  They recognize their value, utility, quality and always, their style.  While all our products are consistent with regard to the first three of these, style is almost always about the leather.  We enjoy making products that offer affordability; we also enjoy working with leathers from the finest tanneries of France and Italy.

"My favorite comment about Graphic Image was that we were the biggest brand that nobody has heard of.  The same individual added that Graphic Image constitutes a new category in retailing; a combination of products and styles not duplicated by any other company in the world.  That may be why we possess a mix of retail customers as unorthodox as they are traditional, and as practical as they are luxurious.

"What my friend meant by our brand awareness was that anyone shopping the top stores in America knows our products immediately by their style, if not by name.  Our style is our brand.  It is recognizable without a label."
