Nambé. What's in a name?

Nambé possesses a certain mystique. Partly its their name and connection to the landscape, culture and history of their origins. Nambé (pronounced nom-BAY) was christened for a tiny village near Santa Fe in Northern New Mexico where the company was founded in 1951.

But there's more to it, this mystique, which makes Nambé the "lifestyle" brand valued by people who love simple, elegant designs and love to share them with others.

The most distinguishing characteristic of Nambé is that the company is devoted as passionately to form as it is to function.  Nambé products are created with two primary objectives: functionality and elegance. “Dedicated to Design” has been their guiding principle in the design and production of every Nambé original.

Nambé has established and constantly refines a “design vocabulary”, and within those parameters they offer their designers free rein. Frames range in style from organic to man-made; from ancient forms to modern elegance.

In every state of Nambé’s development they have searched out America’s finest product designers. Their visionary artists represent a wide range of influences and styles. Many of their artists are already recognized as major influences in the design world, while others are being closely watched as exciting new stars.

Early on, discerning buyers and customers of prestigious stores like Neiman-Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, Bloomingdale’s and Gump’s discovered Nambé. Museums added Nambé to their collections and exhibits. For its beauty, quality and heirloom value, Nambé became a favorite gift, especially for brides. The collection grew and became a world brand.

Care & Use

Nambé Metal

Hand-wash your Nambé metal with mild soap, a soft sponge and water. Dry immediately with a soft clean cloth. Not recommended for the dishwasher. Never leave Nambé in standing water.

Use care when placing heavier Nambé pieces on glass surfaces.

Nambé Polish with 0000 steel wool may be used on bowls, platters, plates and casseroles. Do not use the Polish or steel wool on any other Nambé items. Window cleaner and a soft cloth may be used for light cleaning. Silver or other metal polish is not recommended for Nambé items.

Should you care to have your Nambé metal re-polished, contact the Nambé customer service department for details at 1-800-443-0339.

Each Nambé piece goes through a series of shaping, grinding, buffing and polishing steps. Slight imperfections found on Nambé’s brilliant finish is characteristic of the sand-casting process, and since Nambé is handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly alike.

Nambé Crystal

Crystal is a fragile material and requires delicate handling.

Displaying in sunny windows for extended periods is not recommended. Hot water or sudden temperature changes may cause piece to break.

To wash, use very warm water - not hot - and any kind of detergent that is free of abrasives.

Hand dry immediately with a soft cotton cloth to prevent spotting.

Window-cleaning liquid or rubbing alcohol can be used to clean any of the crystal pieces.

If a chip is discovered, take your piece to a local crystal shop or crystal engraver for sanding.

Removing stains: Swirl a handful of uncooked rice in a solution of lemon juice or vinegar and warm water to remove residue inside a decanter or vase.

Tougher stains: Try warm water with a denture cleaning tablet, allowing it to soak.
