bustling Pier 39 opened in 1978, The San Francisco Music Box Company® was one of the original stores at the internationally famous shopping site. In the months that followed the opening, the small store proved to be one of the most popular retailers on the Pier for tourists and collectors alike.
Buoyed by their success, store founders Marcia and John Lenser, with great optimism, opened a second
store in a suburban mall location. When the mall store also proved successful, the Lensers continued expanding the stores.
