This piece is a faithful reproduction of a Charles Eastlake (1836-1906) classic.

Eastlake was a British architect, tastemaker, and author of a popular handbook on taste in ornament.

The traditional style of the period was heavily carved and gilded frames. Eastlake however, broke from tradition and produced frames by overlaying composition moulding over wood, accented with abstract geometric designs.
